Mission San Jose

This mission was founded in 1797 by Fr. Fermín Lasuén. Named for Saint Joseph, patron of the Universal Church. Mission San Jose is situated in Fremont, a pleasant town on the eastern edge of the Bay Area, close to the city of San Jose. Note that it is not in proper city of San Jose but 15 miles northeast of it. On street in front of the mission one can see flower pots hanging from the lamp post that adds certain charm. The mission is distinguished for its cemetary full of graves and statures. There is also a museum there. The garden is very small. Not many tourists there.
