As you gaze onto the labyrinth, a strange mist descends upon you. You feel cold, yet electric, almost as though you are about to discover an ancient secret. You search around you, squinting through the dense fog to find four tall shapes move towards you. A lump of fear forms in your throat, but you can't scream, for in all this moisture you find your throat unexplainably dry. You manage a raspy, "Who's there?" your voice shaky and you desperately try to straighten your knees before they collapse under you from sheer terror. You are blind in the fog, but you sense the shapes, feel their electric presence as they close in around you. You are trapped.
Finally, the shapes materialize into four beings that closely resemble humans. You are slightly relieved, but still suspicious. "What do you want with me?" you demand, your voice still quivering.
To your left, an oddly beautiful lady dressed in white answers you. "I am the Dragonlady." You notice her strange vertical pupils as she continues, waving her hand to the others beside her. "This is Merlin, Mr. Budge, and Wolf Sister. We are the guides of the labyrinth. In order to enter, you must choose one of us to lead you through."
You stare open-mouthed at the beings and study each one of them in turn. Merlin, a white-haired, unwrinkled and robust man looks wise, his eyes reflecting unseen stars and he nods regally in your direction. Mr. Budge, a short, stout, bald man is dressed in glasses and a clean-cut suit. He seems to be distracted, eager to enter the labyrinth, and fiddles with his once-shiny pocket watch, while thumbing a worn notebook with hieroglyphics across its cover. Wolf Sister hums an old chant, clearly at ease with her surroundings, and braids her impossibly shiny silver hair. Her fingers are incredibly agile for her age, as they seem but a blur to you while she braids, and she smiles at you with grandmotherly tenderness.

 | Choosing carefully is advised, for whomever you choose to guide you through the maze will impact the tests you undergo. If you are more skilled in the arts of creativity, fantasy, and music, go with the Dragonlady. If you understand the nature of the universe, magic, and problem solving, be sure to pick Merlin. If you enjoy mythology, anthropology, and are well-read, take Mr. Budge. If you study nature, understand the way of the seeker/shaman, and love a good tale, reach for Wolf Sister's outstretched hand. Lastly, if you do be an intellect, try them all! Good Luck! | |
