They were older than Chabou. Some of the seekers, having been forged with the universe and traveling its depths ever since, decided to rest on Chabou. They were an ancient race of dragons and the creators of the labyrinth. For many years, they labored on the labyrinth, focussing the energies of Chabou, molding them carefully to create the magical guides of the labyrinth. When it was done, the wanderers arrived on Chabou and the seekers instructed the wanderers on the labyrinth's use. Then, the seekers left to travel the universe and meet up with their brethren again. It was from the first wanderers, the ones who had been taught by the seekers, that a sacred lineage of priestesses was born to care for the labyrinth.
Only the priestesses can bring the initiates safely to the labyrinth, for the intricate lines of energy woven around the labyrinth can be treacherous to the unprepared. It is these lines that the initiates must weave into themselves to prepare for entry into the labyrinth. These lines reflect an intiate's true inner state and the true test of the labyrinth is facing one's self and going beyond in order to return. Thus, the labyrinth is different for each initiate. Although not all come back bright and sated, the few who return troubled are swiftly taken in by the priestesses to undergo spiritual counseling. Because of the potential dangers involved, safeguards were installed in the labyrinth's construction to prevent spritual and emotional damage, as the true inner state of some initiates can be very dark.
